Ms Miriam Garcia Ferrer is the Head of the Trade and Economic Section of the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam since 1 September 2015. The objectives of her work are to contribute to developing closer trade and investment ties between the EU and Vietnam as well as to facilitate the preparation for the implementation of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement.
She has worked in the European Commission since 2001. During these years she has worked in different areas and with different actors, both governmental and professional. Since 2007 she became part of Directorate General for Trade in Brussels, where she served as team leader in charge of all trade-related matters on fisheries, including FTA negotiations with third countries such as Canada, Singapore, Colombia and Peru.
From December 2011 until August 2015, she was the Head of the Trade Section in the EU Delegation to Colombia and Ecuador, where she gained experience in the implementation of the Multiparty Trade Agreement between the EU, Colombia, Peru and subsequently Ecuador. She studied Political Science, International Relations and European Studies in Madrid, Paris, and Bruges.
